Whilst reading and very much enjoying reading Deleuze 'Spinoza:Practical Philosophy' especially the index entry for 'abstraction', I also ended up reading Toni Negri's 'Subversive Spinoza' which seems to complement the original text both in it's more overt resistance to the attempts to co-opt Spinoza's work, i'm thinking more of the dreadful Leo Strauss rather than say Stuart Hampshire, but also by its more direct social and political orientation.

The different but complementary lineages they place their Spinozas in Machiavelli-Spinoza-Marx (Negri) and Spinoza-Nietzsche (Deleuze) are complementary and telling. Yet perhaps they both need a more careful understanding of precisel;y what I'm unsure. Nietzsche rather obviously does that to me.
